MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT: New Year, New Commitment

CITE Family,

As we approach the celebration of Black History Month, I would like to take a few moments to thank you for your continued support of our organization.  In the last few weeks, you came together in a day of service to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and those individuals who started this organization.  And, in response to the crisis in Haiti, you responded to the needs of our Haitian brothers and sisters.

We’ve gotten off to a fast start in 2010, but we cannot stop here.  If we as an organization are going to continue to positively impact Verizon and the communities where we live and work, we have to re-pledge our commitment to ourselves and to the principles on which this organization was founded – starting with the CITE leadership team.  Earlier this year, the CITE executive board and I met and promised to recommit ourselves to you, this organization and the community.  Here are some of the highlights:

Our commitment to you: We know how important it is for you to have the tools and skills you need to excel both in your career and beyond.  That’s why we’re committed to providing you with more meaningful cross- functional training that will both meet you where you are in your career by re- launching , CITE University and by brokering new transformational skills seminars.  CITE University will give you specific course curricula that will help you sharpen your professional skills and our transformational workshops will help prepare you for the future. Plus, we will continue to increase your exposure to members of Verizon’s leadership team and their knowledge of the business through mentoring and networking sessions.

Our commitment to this organization: In today’s business environment, we have to remain flexible so that we are better equipped to meet the changing needs of this organization.  That’s why we’re introducing a new regionalized chapter structure.  This new structure will help us realign our resources so we can better serve your needs and we need you to be apart of it.  If ever there was a time, for you to reach out to your local, CITE Chapter, the time is now.

Our commitment to the community: Time and time again, our members have stepped up to the plate to make a difference in the community, whether it was through scholarships, voter registration drives or mentoring sessions in local schools.  This year, you will see an increased focus on our partnerships with First Book, the Verizon Foundation and other community organizations.

With your help, this is just the surface of all we can accomplish with our renewed commitment to the CITE organization, with your help.  I am excited about the opportunities that this year has to offer.  Thank you for your support of the CITE organization in the past and your commitment to helping us succeed in the future.  I hope you will choose to re-connect with CITE…TODAY!  For more information, visit our website at www.forcite.org.

Sincerely,

Leona Punzi
