MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

This year promises to be an exciting year for CITE, so we sat down with newly-elected president Harrison Mayfield. In this interview, you'll hear directly from Harrison on his vision, why he chose to be the leader and more. And, you'll hear it in his words...

Q:    Tell us about yourself.
HM:  I am a leader on the Verizon VSO side of the business responsible for the Installation and Maintenance of both customer and network services. I have a passion for achieving results that move our business forward. My experience has taught me the best way to help our business is to apply that same passion to develop our people to transform. Outside of Verizon, I am Married with two young adults and enjoy volunteering my time to help non-profit organizations in my community.

Q:     Why now? Why did you choose to run for president?
HM:  We are transforming our business here at Verizon in way that will reshape the lives of our customers. As such, it is vital our CITE members have the tools necessary to complete that transformation. I see this as the perfect opportunity to marry the passion I have for our business with my commitment to help our members achieve their business aspirations.

Q:     What is your vision for the CITE organization?
HM:  Re-establish CITE as the premier Employee Resource Group within Verizon. Our members benefit by participating in professional development sessions along with Networking events designed to help our members help one another.

Q:    What will be some of your administration's key projects and initiatives?
HM: CITE will focus on three key projects for 2011. First, CITE will Partner with Verizon and First Books to teach Black history in our Schools and Community Centers across each of our Chapters during Black History Month. Second, CITE will sponsor our 1st annual Youth Summit, where High School Students will hear from Verizon Executives on the importance of Educations and How that applies to our Technology advances. Finally CITE will Host a WEB Cast on the importance of Diversity and Inclusion to The bottom line of Verizon.
